DETAILS

Wide-regular fit 5-pocket work pants made from 11.4oz 100% cotton Japanese sashiko fabric, hand-dyed by an experienced natural dye artisan using Kakishibu (fermented persimmon tannin). The fabric is first bleached, then subjected to multiple rounds of Kakishibu dyeing and rinsing to produce a rare, highly irregular color unique to each pair.

Kakishibu used here is fermented for over two years, following traditional Japanese practice. It gives the fabric a firm, structured hand feel initially, but softens naturally with wear and washing. Due to the hand-dyeing process, each pair has its own unique variation in color and texture — slight unevenness is intentional and characteristic of the craft. A mild odor or minor color transfer may occur at first but will disappear after a gentle wash.

The fabric is inspired by traditional Japanese sashiko stitching, originating in the Edo period, known for its textured surface, soft drape, and comfortable feel. Finished with Japanese-made twill lining, UJ and Gunze threads, Japanese buttons and rivets, and Union Special hemming.

CARE

Machine wash cold separately. Avoid high heat drying. Frequent washing or tumble drying may result in up to 1cm of additional shrinkage over time.
