Shunko Kashiko Pants — Old Blue

Loose fit 5-pocket work pants crafted from Shunko Kashiko, an original 12oz 100% cotton Japanese fabric combining "Shunko" super heavy slub yarn in the warp and "Kasuri" gradient yarn in the weft. The warp indigo is specially dyed to recreate the subtle green-tinted vintage indigo of the past, while the extreme irregularity of the Shunko yarn produces a highly textured, three-dimensional surface. The weft uses Kasuri yarn with a gradient of approximately six tones from white to black. This fabric was produced in limited quantity and has since been discontinued — a future version of Shunko Kashiko is planned.

The vintage treatment references months of natural wear and aging by the maker, with a faded indigo that will develop an ever-more nuanced color over time. Kasuri is a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom in the 12th or 13th century, later spreading throughout mainland Japan in the 17th century. Finished with Japanese-made twill lining, UJ and Gunze threads, Japanese buttons and rivets, and Kansai Special hemming.

CARE

Machine wash cold separately. Avoid high heat drying. Frequent washing or tumble drying may result in up to 1cm of additional shrinkage over time.
